Open Day

Whether you’ve been following the journey or are new to Banma, we want to welcome you to our open day as part of the Wiveton Wander open gardens. This is to help raise funds for the restoration of the local church and I will be in the garden talking a bit more about what we do here, why it was started and hopefully inspire you to grow/be more connected with the natural world around you.

Introduction To Sourdough Baking

By popular demand - we continue our fascination with fermentation and look to study an introduction into sourdough baking! In recent years there has been a surge of interest in this healthy easier to digest bread as more and more people turn away from artificial flavourings and preservatives in search of easy wins to help support a better gut microbiome.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to create the most delicious bread to share with friends and family but struggled to make anything more than a cookie sized biscuit? Join Aleksandra where she shows you in person how to make and maintain your own sourdough starter to bake your own simple flavourful loaf using only flour, water and salt. While your dough proofs, relax and listen to engaging stories of the origins of bread, enjoy tasty treats made using sourdough to show the many possibilities of this timeless craft, the take your loaf home ready to bake the next morning.

This is a tradition long practiced with very simple ingredients with skills and starters being passed down the generations

Volunteer Day

Join me in the garden for the first volunteer day of the year! We will be prepping beds for the spring, seed sowing and clearing the garden.

If you have a friend you’d like to bring along then please do, people are always welcome in the garden!

Also, if you have some tools that you’d like to bring along - wheel barrow, fork, spade, rake, hand weeding tools, etc then please do, I don’t have a mass of tools for the garden yet so these could be helpful.

There is a limit of 10 people for this, so if you’d like to join, please drop me an email at banmamarketgarden@gmail.com and tell me if you’re bringing a friend.

Thank you and I can’t wait to see you in the garden!!😊🌿
